Modbury Christmas Lights 'Switch On'

Come and join in all the festive fun in Modbury this coming Friday (26 November), when the Christmas lights are switched on. The proceedings start at 6pm with the Totnes Band and children from the school singing carols leading the procession of the May Queen and her Attendants, along with Father Christmas riding in the famous "Dennis Dart" bus down Church Street from Palm Cross Green. The actual switch on is at 6.15pm , after the blessing by the vicar and a carol sung by everyone. It will take place outside Pickles and Pips at 6.15pm. The local pre-school have arranged for Father Christmas to visit in his Grotto, which is in the cafe next to Stocks.

The Band will be playing in the garden of the Exter Inn and the Kingsmen in the ModburyInn and the Bistro after the formal ceremonies. At The White Hart you will find a jazz band playing in the evening while chestnuts will be roasting outside the Exeter Inn. The shops will be open until about 8.30pm.

And while all the festive fun is taking place make sure you make time to pop along and see Jon who will be in Pips with our fantastic oil for you to sample. Put your order in for Christmas - don't forget our Rapeseed Oil is a must for the best roast potatoes, perfect with your Christmas Dinner.

Please note that the main road through Modbury will be closed from 6pm until approx 6.30pm.
